EA and 2K Sports Got Game


The National Hockey League Players' Association and the National Hockey Leaguepartnered with Electronic Arts and 2K Sports on non-exclusive, multi-yearlicensing extensions. This fall, EA will create NHL '07 for current andnext-generation consoles, including Xbox 360, while 2K Sports will publish NHL2K7 for PlayStation3 and Xbox 360 next-generation game consoles, as well ascurrent generation systems for the holiday season.



Rockin' New Program Headed to Retail


Paidas Management hopes to strike a chord with the rollout of a Rock Rebellionlicensing program. The goal of the program is to create merchandise from thehottest acts from the late '60s, '70s, and '80s, as well as the top musicalinstrument brand names. Balzout and Bioworld Merchandise currently are on boardwith the pair creating men's and women's T-shirts, hats, jackets, apparel, andaccessories.



Fans to Vote on Next Tamagotchi Design


Bandai America has its first-ever "Fan's Choice" beginning in mid-July, callingon all Tamagotchi lovers to help select the design of the first Version 4 toythat will debut at retail in January 2007. While the details on Version 4 arebeing kept hush-hush, fans can log onto

throughout July and August to participate in the voting. The winning designwill be announced in October. The company also introduced a new "Gotchi Gear"line, which includes colorful lanyards, or Tama Leashes, with a miniaturecharacter figure attached; three-in-one charms that feature smaller versions ofMametchi, Memetchi, or Kuchipatchi, along with collectible items commonly foundin Tamagotchi Town; and 3.5-inch Pet Pouches that are shaped like individualcharacters.



Extreme Makeover Comes to Toy Shelves


B-Bel joined forces with ABC to introduce a line of toy and craft productsbased on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The line includes house models in one,two, and three stories, as well as accessories to paint, sticker, stamp,stencil, weave, and construct the rooms. Other related products include theYard and Patio Kit and the Makeover Family (dolls suited for the house).



Zodiac Girlz Headed to Teletoon


Portfolio Entertainment Inc. signed a development deal with Teletoon for TheZodiacs, an animated comedy-action series based on the Zodiac Girlz charactersand Website. Created by 3 Muses LLC, the Website gets 500,000 visitors permonth and more than 7 million page views.
