In celebration of the 30th anniversary of his debut album, “Illmatic,” Nas is debuting a new merchandise collection. The pieces pay homage not only to the critically acclaimed music but also to Nas’s Queensbridge roots, which are poetically illustrated within it.
The New York Senate recently commemorated “Illmatic,” stating, “‘Illmatic’ is the crown jewel of the mid-’90s classics that still define the genre; unlike other albums released in its wake, ‘Illmatic’ was the game-changer that forever transformed the landscape of East Coast hip-hop.”
The artwork featured in the collection has been individually painted and hand-drawn by artists, Andrew Agutos, Esteban Whiteside, Rushad Kolah and Samborghini, with creative direction by Kiran Goraya Ilic. and art direction by Carlos Valdez via Bravado UMG.
Print placement on the pieces has been dialed up to further elevate the finished product, giving a fresh new perspective and modernity to a classic. All products are exclusive to Nas’s e-com and dropped on April 19, 30 years to the day that “Illmatic” shook the music industry.
