The Great Trade-In event will launch this Friday at Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us stores in the U.S. Shoppers are encouraged to trade-in any used cribs, strollers and more in exchange for a 25 percent savings on a new baby item.

Other participating trade-in products include car seats, bassinets, travel systems, play yards, high chairs and toddler beds. The 25 percent savings is good for new items in related baby product categories from select manufacturers.

To kick off the event, TRU has launched an educational program Eight Steps to Keep Kids Safe checklist, providing parents and caregivers with proactive tools to advocate child safety, including product recall tips.

"Unsafe products that remain in circulation after they've been recalled present dangerous risks that could be avoided," says Jerry Storch, chairman and chief executive officer of Toys"R"Us. "The 'Great Trade-In' event calls attention to this problem while encouraging parents to scour basements and attics for used products and bring

them to our stores. The Product Safety Vigilance Program builds upon this children's safety effort by providing parents with ways they can monitor the products in their possession and act with urgency in the event of a recall or when changes to product safety standards render older models unsafe."
