Character Databank is a market research, media and consulting company specializing in the Japanese licensing industry and the report, called "Japan Character Licensing 2009," is an abridged version of "CharaBiz Data," a widely respected Japanese-language annual white paper on the industry. It reports on the market in 2008.
"This is the first-ever report in English about one of the world's largest licensing markets and I hope it will lead to a deeper understanding of this market and help overseas licensors develop their business strategies when entering Japan," says Kazuo Rikukawa, president of Character Databank.
The report is available for purchase—$479 for LIMA members and $691 for non-members.
