HarperCollins Children’s Books has acquired the U.K. and U.S. rights to two fantasy titles by musical prodigy Stefan Bachmann. The 18-year musician and composer will also compose musical pieces for both books that will be integrated into the e-book editions.

Bachmann began writing his first novel,

The Peculiar

, at 16-years-old and describes the story as a “gothic-steampunk-faery-fantasy.” The books will follow changeling child Bartholomew Kettle in a fantastical Victorian England, where wolves pull taxicabs and flame faeries light lampposts.

HarperCollins will publish

The Peculiar

in hardback this September 2012, with a paperback version following in spring 2013.
