G.I. Joe goes comic

]>By Laura Liebeck

Certainly, there's nothing funny about G.I. Joe, but he's heading for the comics. Devil's Due Publishing (Chicago), a comic book producer, has created the G.I. Joe Comic Book series, under license from Hasbro (Pawtucket, R.I.). An ongoing series, the first four issues will be released on a bi-monthly schedule and will then go monthly, says Josh Blaylock, Devil's Due president and writer of the series. The first comic bowed in September and the second hit on Halloween. Sold primarily at comic book specialty stores in the U.S. and Canada, the G.I. Joe series is being sampled at Hot Topic, says Blaylock. G.I. Joe is Devil's Due first license; Blaylock is interested in securing more licensed deals.
