Brands, Characters Jump on App Bandwagon

Disney Mobile launched its Tron: Legacy mobile game app for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad to coincide with the feature film's release today. The game features 16 different courses for players to race their 3-D Light Cycles in standard races, timed trials or in head-to-head competitions. A free Tron app that includes an Apple iPod/iPhone Visualizer and alarm clock is also available.

HIT Entertainment and Callaway Digital Arts have collaborated to release the Thomas the Tank Engine Misty Island Rescue app, the first Thomas & Friends-branded app designed for the iPad. Additional Thomas apps are in the works.

Novel Entertainment is launching a Horrid Henry-themed iPhone app, which features nine of Henry's most popular sounds and sayings, as well as video and links to the character's website to play games, win prizes and more.

Zoo Entertainment is debuting the first

Guinness World Records has rolled out an iPad app that features a collection of the world's feats, regularly updated through video, images, graphics and games. The Guinness World Records: At Your Fingertips app was developed by U.K. design agency Brandwidth.

SquareEnix and Crystal Dynamics have released Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light app for the iPhone and iPod touch, as well as an iPad exclusive HD version. The action-adventure game includes co-op play and puzzles.
