The date change was to remove conflict with another comic –book inspired film also releasing a film on May 6, 2016—Marvel’s

Captain America 3

.

Warner  Bros. also revealed the release date for

Lego 2

on May 26, 2017, and two as-yet-untitled animated films for May 25, 2018 and May 24, 2019, all scheduled for the Memorial Day holiday.

Warner Bros. will also release more comic-book inspired films in 2017, including Wonder Woman and Justice League.

The film dates are on the heels of Warner Bros. Entertainment’s announcement last week of the launch of the Harry Potter Global Franchise Development team, based in both London and Burbank, Calif.
