Minnie Inspires Fashion Exhibit

Disney is collaborating with the digital lifestyle company Refinery29 for an interactive fashion and art installation celebrating the signature style of Minnie Mouse–"Minnie Rocks the Dots."

Two-day event will highlight the Disney character's ongoing fashion influence.

Disney is collaborating with the digital lifestyle company Refinery29 for an interactive fashion and art installation celebrating the signature style of Minnie Mouse–"Minnie Rocks the Dots."

Launching in Los Angeles, Calif., with a red carpet preview event on National Polka Dot Day (Jan. 22) before opening to the public the next day, the exhibit will take fans through the history of Minnie’s influence on fashion and pop culture. Additionally, fashion designer Christian Siriano will reveal a custom dress designed for Minnie during the exclusive preview night on Jan. 22.

“Minnie Mouse has long served as a fashion muse and appeared in runway shows for designers around the globe,” says Soo Koo, vice president, product development, Disney Consumer Products. “Her classic polka dot look has been continually re-imagined by the fashion industry through the decades and continues to drive trends today.”

"Minnie Rocks the Dots" will feature photographs, archive imagery and sketches from the 1930s through

the present day. Known for her trademark polka dot dress, the exhibition will also feature other custom dresses worn by Minnie from countries such as Russia and Mexico and Minnie-inspired fashion pieces from around the world inspired.

Fans who attend the public event on Jan. 23 will also get a sneak peek at upcoming collaborations and have access to new, limited edition Minnie products in a pop-up shop.

Fans can also find the new Minnie Mouse Signature Collection at Disney Store and DisneyStore.com. The new line includes apparel, stationery and accessories. On National Polka Dot Day, Disney Store will also release a limited edition Minnie Mouse doll.
