Disney to Reboot 'DuckTales'

Disney Television Animation is planning an all-new animated series based on the '80s cartoon "DuckTales."

The new "DuckTales" is set to debut in 2017 on Disney XD channels worldwide and will once again take viewers along as Scrooge McDuck, his curious and mischief-making grandnephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie, and Donald Duck embark on adventures around the world.

The original "DuckTales" aired more than 100 episodes from 1987 to 1990 and also spawned an animated feature film, all of which is currently available on the "Watch Disney Channel" mobile app.

"'DuckTales' has a special place in Disney's TV animation history," says Marc Buhaj, senior vice president, programming, and general manager, Disney XD. "It drew its inspiration from Disney legend Carl Barks' comic books, and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation."
