The new game, “Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games,” will be set in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the host city of this year’s games, and will feature 14 Olympics sports such as archery and swimming, as well as 14 additional gaming events.
Players will also have the opportunity to choose between 40 playable characters for solo play, multiplayer and the “Mii in the Road to Rio” mode. In the “Mii in the Road to Rio” mode, players will be able to choose to compete on Mario or Sonic’s team. After the storyline is completed, the player will receive an in-game Mario or Sonic Mii outfit, depending on which side they choose. Additionally, players will be able to boost their abilities through sports gear and character outfits.
“Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games” will be available for Nintendo 3DS throughout Europe on April 8.
