The sequel to the 2012 app will follow the story of the three prequel Star Wars movies and feature more than 30 characters, many of them brand new. Players will also have the chance to choose which side to fight for, although in this version it’s not the Dark Side but the Pork Side.

To complement the game, Rovio has teamed up with Hasbro for a line of more than 30 collectible Telepods figures. The figures come to life in the game when they are scanned by a smartphone or tablet camera.

“‘Angry Birds Star Wars’ was a blockbuster hit for us and Lucasfilm with over 100 million downloads since its release,” says Jami Laes, executive vice president, games, Rovio Entertainment. “We are thrilled to be able to introduce the exciting next chapter in the Angry Birds Star Wars saga to our fans around the world. Some of the most amazing character

additions are versions of young Anakin, Mace Windu and Darth Maul. Hasbro’s Telepods technology also provides a great way to extend the experience beyond the app and bring a whole new dimension to the gameplay.”

Rovio promises a full range of additional merchandise including toys, plush, books and apparel that will also be available in September.
