In anticipation of holiday sales, Kantar Retail has adjusted its annual retail sales growth predictions (excluding auto and fuel) for 2010 to 3.3 percent, slightly above its forecast of 3.0 percent a year ago.

Meanwhile, the report predicts somewhat weaker annual growth for 2011. Kantar's preliminary sales forecast for 2011 estimates growth between 2.5 percent and 3.0 percent due to 2010's heightened stimulus and pent-up demand periods. Looking toward 2012 and beyond, the reporting service predicts growth at a range between 4.5 percent and 5.0 percent.

Kantar Retail's 2010 Strategic Outlook Conference will be held Nov. 2 in Rogers, Ark. Earlier this month, the event was held in Chicago, Ill., and New York City, N.Y.
