In anticipation of the Dec. 25 theatrical release of
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel
, Fox L&M and Bagdasarian Productions signed partnerships with Mad Engine for a line of boys' T-shirts and Isaac Morris for boys' and girls' sportswear, outerwear and swimwear (available this month at retailers).
Fox L&M has also tapped American Classics for a retro-styled T-shirt collection based on TV and film properties including 24, Prison Break, M*A*S*H, White Men Can't Jump, Independence Day, Big Trouble in Little China and Hot Shots. In a similar agreement, Ripple Junction will also rollout a line of contemporary tees based on several Fox properties.
A new animated Fox series "Sit Down, Shut Up" has also inked its first apparel deal with Now and Zen for a line of T-shirts and sweatshirts for young men and juniors. The
Continued expansions with all current licensees are also planned for Fox's The Simpsons and Family Guy apparel lines.
"With a banner year of new properties, we have been able to continue our expansion of licensing and merchandising across multiple fashion segments," says Elie Dekel, executive vice president of licensing and merchandising for Fox L&M. "In this market, it will be increasingly important to bring strong entertainment brands to retail. Fox has so much to offer partners and retailers for 2009."
