Influential U.K.-designed games such as “Tomb Raider” are being celebrated in a new set of stamps by Royal Mail. The stamps, all based on games from the 1980s and 1990s, will come in a set of 12.
“The U.K. has been at the forefront of the video games industry for decades,” says Philip Parker, head, stamp strategy, Royal Mail. “In the 1980s and ‘90s, young designers grappled with coding on the new microcomputers and set the template for the industry with iconic games. We celebrate some of their landmark creations on stamps.”
Other games such as “Elite,” “Dizzy,” “Populous,” “Lemmings,” “Micro Machines,” “Sensible Soccer,” “Wipeout” and “Worms” will also be included in the set.
The set will be available beginning Jan. 21.
