Bompard will succeed Georges Plassat, whose contract as chairman and chief executive officer expires in May 2018, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Further details regarding Bompard’s appointment will be released in the coming days, when he is set to be officially named by the retailer’s board of directors.
Presently, Bompard is the chief executive officer of Fnac, a position he has held since 2011. During his tenure, Fnac shares have nearly tripled in value since its stock market listing in 2013.
