Senior licensing executives Jessica Blue of UBM Americas and Will DePippo of Sesame Workshop hosted a session on brand licensing basics at New York Toy Fair on Saturday.

UBM, Sesame Workshop Discuss Licensing Basics

‘Licensing 101’ featured an overview of the industry as well as a case study on a popular licensed program.

Blue is the senior vice president of licensing at UBM Americas (organizer of Licensing Expo and Brand Licensing Europe) and DePippo is the assistant director of global consumer products at Sesame Workshop.

The session, titled “Licensing 101,” kicked off the Toy Industry Association’s five-session Licensing Content Connection and included an overview from Blue about how licensing works, successful business models that be implemented and the top trends of 2016.

Meanwhile, DePippo provided details regarding the history of Sesame Workshop and how important licensing has been to the family of characters that make up the company’s portfolio. He also cited how excited the company was regarding its partnership with HBO as well as the brand’ extension into 3D printed products.
