VIZ Media Gains Two Execs

VIZ appoints directors of publicity and publishing marketing.

VIZ Media has expanded its executive staff with the appointment of Ailen Lujo as director of publishing marketing and Chantelle Sturt as director of publicity.

Lujo will develop strategies for the company’s publishing business and its print and digital catalogs. As director of publishing marketing, Lujo will build and lead multi-channel marketing campaigns and be a liaison between the VIZ Media sales and editorial teams. He most recently worked at DC Comics as executive director of trade marketing.

“We are thrilled that Ailen has joined the VIZ Media family,” says Candice Uyloan, senior director, product marketing, VIZ Media. “Not only does she bring a wealth of publishing expertise to the Marketing team, but a keen understanding of manga as well. I look forward to seeing the impact she will have on our 2020 plans in the coming months.”

Sturt’s appointment will lead the publicity and public relations strategies across multiple functions at VIZ Media including books, anime, digital and streaming products, interactive gaming and home entertainment. She most recently managed projects for the likes of Jamie Oliver, Arianna Huffington, Rachel Zoe and more.

“Chantelle’s diverse experience and success demonstrates her ability to take what is happening in today’s culture and news and create promotional campaigns that not only cut through the noise but which translate into profitable projects that endure,” says Brad Woods, chief marketing officer, VIZ Media. “I am thrilled that this dynamic and engaged leader will now bring her talents to VIZ Media.”
