Smiley has made two new executive appointments–David Fox as head of design and Salvatore Zingrillo as global brand director of fashion.

Fox spent a number of years as a creative director at The Walt Disney Company's consumer products division and has retail and brand knowledge from various senior creative fashion and marketing roles, including vice president design at the The Gap's Old Navy division in the U.S. and as a creative marketing director for Esprit's EDC division in Germany.

Zingrillo joins Smiley from Sanrio, where he built successful brand strategies as EMEA marketing director and developed Hello Kitty premium collaborations with the likes of Liberty, Barbour, KISS, Retrosuperfuture, Hydrogen, Moleskine, Rizzoli New York, DC Comics and Playboy for Colette. He started his career at MTV and also has experience in the global fashion and streetwear industry, having previously worked at Diesel.

“I’m really pleased to have found two talents who both have a high level understanding of style and of the licensing industry,” says Nicolas Loufrani, chief executive officer, Smiley. “These are very rare profiles and they correspond to Smiley’s unique vision of our business: we should always respect customers and provide them with the best possible products based on the latest trends and for the best prices. Our role at Smiley is not to sell only licenses, but to market great products in partnership with licensees.”
