Dempsey Names BBC Senior Team

Paul Dempsey, incoming president of global markets at BBC Worldwide, has announced the senior team that will be joining him in the newly reorganized division.

Paul Dempsey, incoming president of global markets at BBC Worldwide, has announced the senior team that will be joining him in the newly reorganized division.

In a move to increase its focus on international markets, Dempsey has appointed new executive vice presidents in four regions: Western Europe; Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa; Asia; and Latin America.

The new EVPs are:

  • Western Europe: David Weiland (Weiland will also be responsible for leading the development of commercial sales strategy in Western Europe, CEMA, Asia and Latin America.)

  • CEMA: Ian McDonough (McDonough also has a global commercial remit for BBC channels strategy.)

  • Asia: Joyce Yeung

  •  Latin America: Fred Medina

Each EVP will be responsible for business development and profit growth across all businesses in their region which will include channels, TV sales, consumer products and production.

“We’ve got big plans to build the fan base for BBC brands all around the world. These senior level appointments are a sign of our ambition,” says Dempsey. “With Fred, David, Ian and Joyce leading the charge, I’m sure we’ll enjoy much success in taking the Worldwide in our company name to new heights.”
