RPG game will feature an expanded universe and card game elements.

Universal has tapped Desert Owl Games to create “The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse,” a role-play game with collectible card game elements, for Windows, Mac and PlayStation 4.

In the new game, players will guide the protagonist, Elisabeth, through the expanded Huntsman world in a choose-your-own adventure style to reunite her with her long-lost brothers. As the plot continues, Elisabeth will confront creatures and sorcerers, battle evil men and even spar with Eric, the most elite Huntsman. The game will also feature characters from the film, as well its upcoming prequel The Huntsman: Winter’s War, in theaters April 22.

The game will include collectible card game elements by using collectible equipment cards to provide users with different options in combat. At the start of every battle, characters will draw random cards and can use their corresponding actions in active time battles.

The first episode , or book, of “The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse” will be free-to-play. Subsequent books, which will continue the main story and offer new side quests, will be available for purchase.

“The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse” will debut on Windows and Mac, with a PlayStation 4 release to follow later this year.
