“The Monopoly brand has been giving fans the chance to ‘own it all’ for more than eight decades, and this year, on World Monopoly Day, we’re planning the most memorable celebration of the brand yet,” said Jonathan Berkowitz, senior vice president, global marketing for gaming, Hasbro. “We’ve made it possible for every Monopoly fan to join us in the celebration, whether on social media or at one of our live events planned around the world.”
Fans of the game were able to celebrate the brand’s birthday at events such as a Monopoly-themed VIP experience during Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras parade and an attempt to break the world record for the most people playing a Monopoly game in a single venue at Universal Studios Singapore. Other Monopoly-themed events included hundreds of Mr. Monopoly impersonators at the Patras Carnival in Greece, and
A social media campaign was also launched to wish brand a happy birthday. Brands from Monopoly Empire such as Universal Parks & Resorts, Ford, Caterpillar, Billboard, Polaroid and Heinz Tomato Ketchup took part using the top hat emoji and the hashtag #Monopoly. Mr. Monopoly took over
magazine’s Instagram for the day, as well.
