New production company will develop shows for both preschool and tween audiences.

Jessica Symons, former head of children at Channel 5, has launched an independent children’s production company, titled Ivy House Productions.

As Ivy House’s managing director, Symons is currently building the company’s development portfolio, which already has several programs, for both the preschool and tween audience covering live-action, puppet shows, animation and a sports show.

“During my time at Channel 5, as well as commissioning and acquiring shows, I had a hands-on role in the production of all our in-house content and continuity output,” says Symons. “Starting my production company has been a long-held dream and I am really excited to be entering an exciting new chapter in my career.”

In addition to Ivy House, Symons is also working with Creative Skillset and is a visiting practitioner at Falmouth University.

During her tenure at Channel 5, Jessica was responsible for the channel’s preschool segment Milkshake! and developed, commissioned and acquired hundreds of hours of children’s programs, as well as produced, wrote and directed multiple in-house shows.
