New animated content to be created with Millennials in mind.

Corus Entertainment and Bento Box Entertainment are teaming for the creation of a Canadian animation company aimed at creating content for the coveted 18- to 34-year-old demographic.

The Bento Box Canada joint venture builds on a recent multi-year co-development deal between the two companies.

Bento Box Canada will capitalize on the two studios’ strengths to produce animated series targeted to 18- to 34-year-olds. The new company will operate in Toronto, in Corus’ headquarters.

This fall, production will begin on the studio's first series, “The Pandas,” an irreverent, animated family comedy from creators Mikael Wulff and Anders Morgenthaler.

“Over the past year, our teams at Corus and Bento Box Entertainment have been collaborating on a creative pipeline that will see a raft of edgy new animated series come to light for 2016,” says Scott Dyer, president, Nelvana. “We’re excited to be bringing two world-class teams together to produce fresh new content for the savvy, millennial demographic.”
