Already handling the classic Ghostbusters brand, Rocket will rep the reboot as well.

Rocket Licensing has been appointed to manage the licensing campaign for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot in the U.K. and Ireland on behalf of Sony Pictures.

Set to premiere worldwide in July 2016, the film will reimagine the classic franchise with an all-female cast that include comediennes Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. “Of the top film events of the coming year, this is possibly the one that has the highest levels of awareness and anticipation–from both filmgoers and the licensing community," says Mark Caplan, senior vice president, global consumer products, Sony Pictures Entertainment. "We’re looking forward enormously to bringing the new Ghostbusters to a waiting world and delighted that Rocket, with its excellent work on the classic brand, will be building the licensing campaign for the new brand in the U.K. and Ireland.”

Mattel will serve as the film's global master toy licensee, and for the first phase of the U.K. licensing campaign, Rocket is targeting publishing, apparel, nightwear, underwear, social stationery, stationery, confectionery, gifts and homewares.

In addition to managing the regional program for the new Ghostbusters, Rocket already handles the classic Ghostbusters licensing campaign, which has attracted licensees in a number of key categories that will blaze a trail for the new film.

“There was enormous interest in the new Ghostbusters from the moment the film was announced and today, still a year from release, the momentum is building strongly," says Rob Wijeratna, joint managing director, Rocket Licensing. "With an incredible early response from licensing and retail, we’re expecting to make a number of announcements well before the end of the year and a very busy 2016.”
