Gaumont International Television and NBCUniversal have appointed Evolution USA as the global licensing agency for the TV series “Hannibal.”

Gaumont International Television and NBCUniversal have appointed Evolution USA as the global licensing agency for the TV series “Hannibal.”

Produced by Gaumont International Television in association with Sony Pictures Television Networks, “Hannibal” is based on the novels by Thomas Harris and serves as a prequel to the feature films Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon and novels. Season two of the series will debut Feb. 28.

"‘Hannibal’ is a sophisticated prequel to the Hannibal books, brought to life with artful writing, stylish direction and photography and a truly talented cast,” says Travis J. Rutherford, president, licensing and retail development, Evolution. “It’s not surprising that the series has quickly established a large fan base, and we are confident that we can deliver to them compelling and unique product in a multitude of categories in support of the upcoming new season." 

Evolution is now seeking manufacturing and retail partners to launch the brand in North America and Europe in key product categories including apparel, accessories, fragrance, home furnishings, home décor, games and collectibles. 

“We have an incredibly loyal fan base that has really connected with this series,” says Christopher Lucero, director of global licensing, NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products. “The Evolution team understands this property extremely well, and we are looking forward to working with them to develop a strong licensing program that brings exciting new products to the market.”
