DHX Brands has appointed VTech to develop interactive electronic toys for its upcoming reboot of the "Teletubbies" preschool brand.

Product is set to roll out beginning fall/winter 2016 in the U.K. and then expand to other European territories including France, Germany, Benelux, Iberia and Australia and New Zealand.

“We are delighted to welcome VTech on board as a leading electronic toy company as this is an integral category in the consumer products strategy for new 'Teletubbies,'" says Peter Byrne, executive vice president, DHX Brands. "We also anticipate extending the roll out to additional markets as broadcast is secured internationally.”

The new 60-episode "Teletubbies" reboot has been commissioned by CBeebies in the U.K. and is being produced for DHX Media by Darrall Macqueen Ltd. It will feature the same characters as the original but with a refreshed, contemporary look.

More than 20 licensees have been signed to-date including Worlds Apart (furniture and accessories), Aykroyds (nightwear and underwear), Character World (bedding), Amscan (partyware), Bon Bon Buddies (confectionary), Posh Paws (bags) GB Eye (posters) and Zak U.K. (melamine tableware).
