Sanrio and Sourcebooks have teamed up to create a new children’s book series for the “Put Me in the Story” digital platform that will integrate a child’s name into books featuring Hello Kitty.

The Hello Kitty and Me series will feature eight original stories, the first of which, Hello Kitty and Me: Best Friends, will be released in July 2014.

The digital books will be available on the Put Me in the Story and iOS app, and custom print versions can also be ordered online. Sourcebooks will also develop and distribute physical and digital copies through booksellers, major retailers and libraries.

“Hello Kitty is a worldwide treasure, and we’re thrilled to help tell her story,” says Dominique Raccah, chief executive officer and publisher, Sourcebooks. “For the first time, Hello Kitty books will be written with personalization in mind, which changes the sharing and bonding experience for parent and child.”
