Sony Pictures Television and Hivemind have announced a new partnership with Square Enix to develop a live-action adaptation based on the “Final Fantasy” series.

The live-action television series will tell an original story set in the world of Eorzea, seen in “Final Fantasy XIV.” Inspired directly by the world and characters of the title's 14^th installment, the project will explore the game's theme of the struggle between magic and technology. The game will also include the live-action version of the game's characters.

“Final Fantasy XIV” has previously been leveraged for partnerships with organizations including the Red Cross.
