Jakks Pacific Pegged for Hello Kitty Toy Line

Sanrio has signed Jakks Pacific to develop a line of Hello Kitty toys for the fall. The toy maker was recently named principal North American toy license for the character brand.

The line, to debut in Targets nationwide, will feature figures, play sets, plush toys, indoor and outdoor children's furniture, seasonal products and interactive toys, such as a disco desktop speaker. The first launch is expected to include mini-figures such as molded clip-ons, collectible urban-styled figures and a purse play set with small figures. Jakks is also developing an activities line, which will include a line of pens that can be customized with beads and charms and do-it-yourself jewelry play sets.

"Through our new partnership with Jakks, we are excited to bring forth a full merchandising program with fresh new products across multiple categories to continue the success of this brand."
