BBC’s television epic “Planet Earth” will soon launch its newest toy lines through licensees, Planet Toys, Scholastic and Canadian Group, as well as a feature film for 2009.

Planet Toys has created the Planet Earth 3D Finder, Planet Earth Solar Night Globe, Planet Earth Miniature Ecosystems and a not-yet-named plush line.

Scholastic will published books based on the series, including “Planet Earth: Board Book,” “Planet Earth: Reader #2: Wild Amazon,” “Planet Earth: Guide to the Planet,” “Planet Earth Scrapbook #2: Amazing Animals of the Rainforest” and “Planet Earth: Big World, Small World.”

The Canadian Group is expected to develop a line of 2D and 3D cardboard puzzles ranging from 100 to 1,000 piece sets and features images from the show.
All products are expected to be in stores in spring 2009.

Also coming up is the Planet Earth brand’s film Earth, to be distributed by Walt Disney Studios in the U.S. The feature-length documentary will be released on Earth Day 2009 and narrated by actor James Earl Jones.
