Product sales of the 2009 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers have surpassed previous championship merchandise sales at New York City's The NBA Store and NBAStore.com.

Lakers' product sales more than doubled last year's sales within the first two days after the team won its 15th title, reported the retailer. International orders came in from 35 countries.

Top-selling items at the retailer were the authentic Locker Room T-shirt and hat, and the caricature "parade" T-shirt from adidas. Other big sellers include presales of the 2009 NBA Finals Champions DVD from Warner and the first authentic towel from McArthur.

"The Los Angeles Lakers have been our most popular selling team worldwide all season and when they won their 15th NBA title fans around the world celebrated," says Linda Choong, NBA senior vice president of global retail development. "With the largest selection of championship merchandise ever offered, fans can share in the excitement and history with their favorite team."

Meanwhile, adidas and Wheaties have introduced a special-edition Lakers champions T-shirt, featuring a picture of the commemorative box with the entire Lakers' team. It retails for $40 and is available at NBAStore.com.
