B&Q, the U.K.'s No. 1 home improvement and garden center retailer, has signed an exclusive deal with JCB, the world's third-largest manufacturer of construction equipment, to develop a range of power and hand tools. Currently, the U.K. DIY power and hand tools market stands at £500 million ($768 million).

The range will launch exclusively in all B&Q stores this autumn, and in keeping with JCB's 65-year history of research, development and innovation, will deliver a range of designer power tools built for hard work and reliability. The range is being designed to engineering standards and will carry a five-year guarantee, priced for the mid-market targeting aspirational DIYers.

"JCB is a world leader in innovation, research and development and this new exclusive range to B&Q will bring high-quality engineering performance to the U.K. DIY power and hand tool market and be the coolest DIY tool brand," says John Colley, B&Q's commercial and marketing director.
