If the deal does come to fruition it will underline the move among retailers to boost design credibility with designer direct-to-retail collections rather than pure celebrity collections, which appear to be on the wane. This move has already been seen in the home arena where designer collections have begun to dominate.

It would also help pave the way for McQueen’s surge into the U.S. market, where he recently opened an online store.
