The National Hockey League has named McDonald's the organization's official quick-service restaurant. The new teaming begins at the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic 2009 and the NHL All-Star Game, where the fast food company has purchased advertising on NHL media and other league rights holders.

At the Bridgestone event, McDonald's plans to give away a limited amount of $5 McCafe-themed gift cards to fans. The NHL will donate $200 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities for every shot on goal (up to $10,000) during the game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings on New Year's Day.
