A line of Italian-designed streetwear and accessories featuring Emily the Strange from Pier SpA will hit the European market this fall. Gator Group brokered the deal on behalf of Emily the Strange.
The collection for teens and women will feature artwork and graphics from the creators of Emily the Strange, Cosmic Debris, which was founded by Rob Reger in 1993. The line will be sold at high-end boutiques and retailers across Europe.
"Our new partnership with Pier SpA marks the beginning of a new era for Emily the Strange in streetwear," says Reger. "In 15 years, we have built a strong publishing portfolio that has established our footprint in the global marketplace with a core fanbase. Pier SpA's creative and unique vision will give us the ability to provide our longtime fans with incredibly crafted garments while also attracting new devotees to the essence of Emily."
Licensee Pier SpA has also held past agreements with Karl Lagerfield and Katharine Hamnett, as well as recent deals with Boy by Band of Outsiders and Charles Anastase.
Emily the Strange's current licensing program spans T-shirts, dresses, underwear, toys, guitars and school supplies. She is also featured in a series of comic books from Dark Horse Comics and four hardbounds from Chronicle Book, as well as an upcoming series of young adult books from HarperCollins Publishing.
Beside Emily the Strange, California-based Gator Group also represents Paul Frank Industries.
