Marvel Plans Spider-Man Game

Gameloft and Marvel are teaming up to create the official mobile game for Sony Pictures’ The Amazing Spider-Man.

Set to launch Thursday, in conjunction with the movie release on July 3, the 3D action game will be available for iOS and Android devices.

This is the second Spider-Man game that Marvel and Gameloft have created together; the first, “Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem” was released exclusively for iOS devices in 2010.

“After having previously made ‘Spider-Man: Total Mayhem’–which was a huge success for both us and Marvel–we have even bigger ambitions for this new installment, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’” says Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of marketing, Gameloft. “In addition to being an opportunity for Gameloft to showcase our skills in adapting movies into games, when combined with the fact that this is one of the most popular and commercially successful superheroes of all time, after having boasted one of the highest-grossing movie franchises in history, we expect this title to be a great success.”

Gameloft worked with both Marvel and the Sony Pictures movie team to develop an immersive universe that stays true to the upcoming film.
