Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ Toy, Fashion and Product Ranges Revealed
Disney has launched new products, toys and collaborations to celebrate the upcoming arrival of “The Little Mermaid.”
The first look at the new product range includes collaborations, licensed consumer products from Jakks Pacific, Mattel, LEGO and Funko and an exclusive partnership with the movie’s costume designer, Colleen Atwood.
In the toy aisle, Mattel’s Mermaid Ariel doll, recently revealed by actor Halle Bailey, has now been given a full supporting range of dolls and accessories inspired by the movie, including Melissa McCarthy’s portrayal of Disney Villa Ursula as well as King Triton and Ariel’s sisters. Mattel has also produced a sing-along Ariel doll and “The Little Mermaid” playsets inspired by Ariel’s Grotto.

Jakks Pacific has created a line of role-play products including “Ariel 2-Piece Mermaid Fashion,” “King Triton’s All Powerful Trident” with motion-activated features and the new “Singing Sea Shell Necklace.” Jakks has also launched the “Under the Sea Exploring Ariel Doll.”
LEGO has built playsets, including a portable LEGO Little Mermaid Story Book set, LEGO Ariel Treasure Chest, LEGO Royal Clamshell and mini figures of the character roster.

Funko has partnered with “The Little Mermaid” to create new collectibles and accessories available to all generations of fans. The Funko Pop! lineup, naturally, involves Ariel, Prince Eric, King Triton and Ursula, along with a Deluxe Pop! Ariel with Friends.
In the fashion realm, Loungefly has produced a mini backpack and wallet while Hanna Andersson has created a premium child-wear capsule collection featuring pajamas, swimwear and a tulle dress. Disney has also taken the collaborative element further by bringing a capsule collection inspired by Atwood’s work, which has culminated in a Ruffle Maxi Dress, Tie Dye Two Piece Set, cosplay dress and mermaid swim tail skirt.
In publishing, Disney Publishing Worldwide will provide young fans with a picture book, “The Little Mermaid: Make a Splash,” along with a novelization of the movie for fans 8-12 and “The Little Mermaid: The Guide to Merfolk.” Older fans are also catered to with “The Little Mermaid: Against the Tide,” an original novel by New York Times best-selling author, J. Elle.
For the video game market, King Triton will join the Disney Mirrorverse, a role-playing game set for mobile.
Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” will arrive in theaters on May 26.
