Studiocanal Inks ‘Adventures of Paddington,’ ‘Ernest & Celestine’ Deals

“The Adventures of Paddington” will be represented in mainland China, while “Ernest & Celestine” have multiple new publications.

Studiocanal recently signed an agreement with Shanghai Senyu Media to represent the animated series “The Adventures of Paddington” in mainland China.

“These (are) new light-hearted stories that embrace and encourage kindness and thoughtfulness as well as (being) a great deal of fun,” says Sarah Mottershead, senior sales manager, TV series, Studiocanal.

The announcement was made at the virtual edition of Hong Kong rights market FilMart. Senyu Media has previously distributed other Western children's series in China, including “PJ Masks” and “Paw Patrol.”

“Paddington is a renowned brand in China, and we believe it will become another big hit when the new series is launched,” says Chang Fan, vice president, Shanghai Senyu Media.

In addition, a new partner has joined the 40-year celebration of “Ernest & Celestine,” My Little Concept, creator of educational clocks for children. A collection composed of 12 hours, 24 hours and week clocks will be dedicated to “Ernest & Celestine.” 

From April 14, Casterman Jeunesse will launch its editorial program including the collector's album "Ernest and Celestine: How it All Began,” "My First Ernest and Celestine Picture Book" and "My Ernest and Celestine Activity Book," relayed in window displays in more than 300 bookstores.
