NBC's New Streaming Service to Continue ‘Battlestar Galactica,’ ‘Saved by The Bell’

Peacock announces new content from “30 Rock” writer Tracey Wigfield and “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail.

NBCUniversal has announced the new slate of content available via its upcoming streaming service, Peacock. 

The new streaming channel will roll out in April 2020 with more than 15,000 hours of new and existing content. Peacock will be supported via both advertising and subscriptions. Details on pricing and distribution will be announced closer to launch.

New content includes a relaunch of “Saved by The Bell” by “30 Rock” writer Tracey Wigfield. The reboot of the ‘90s sitcom will include the return of original cast members Elizabeth Berkley and Mario Lopez. Sci-Fi series “Battlestar Galactica” will also get the continuation treatment from “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail.

The upcoming series will be joined by classic shows in the NBCUniversal vault including “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation.” The service will also feature original content from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation and Illumination. Peacock will also tap into NBCUniversal’s broad range of live content across news, sports, late-night and reality.

Other titles include:

Drama:

  • “Dr. Death,” starring Alec Baldwin, Jamie Dornan and Christian Slater;

  • “Brave New World” featuring Demi Moore and

  • “Armas de Mujer” from the team behind Telemundo’s hit “La Reina del Sur.”

Comedy:

  • “30 Rock;”

  • “Brooklyn Nine-Nine;”

  • “Cheers;”

  • “Everybody Loves Raymond;”

  • “Frasier;”

  • “Saturday Night Live;”

  • “Will & Grace” and

  • “Married With… Children.”

Peacock will join an ever growing streaming landscape which includes platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and the newly announced Disney+.
