Young women's specialty retailer Wet Seal plans to launch a new licensed-driven music merchandise category in its stores.

The band Fall Out Boy is the first to join the initiative with a package for customers, which includes their new album release from Island Records—Folie a Deux—and an exclusive T-shirt designed by band member Pete Wentz under his Clandestine label.

"The connection between fashion and music has always existed and is important to our customer," says Ed Thomas, chief executive officer, Wet Seal. "The program we have developed with Island brings so many key elements together, we felt this was a great way to launch an initiative we see playing a prominent role in 2009."

In addition to the music merchandise, Wet Seal is also launching a contest on its Web site, where a customer can win a chance to be featured in the next Fall Out Boy music video.

Wet Seal operates 500 stores in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, including 409 Wet Seal stores and 91 Arden B stores.
