Designers and architects, Daniel and Michel Bismut, have designed a limited- edition collection of furniture, Smiley by Bismut.

“We wanted to design high-end furniture in the best French handcraft tradition, both beautiful and functional, but that doesn't take itself too seriously,” says Daniel Bismut.

Each piece is hand-fashioned by artisans. The collection includes two coffee table models. One features a Smiley face top balanced on a pair of skis set in parallel or angled in snowplow position and is fashioned from polished stainless steel, with a top available in three colors. The mouth and eyes are made of artisanal glass, while the upturned ski tips are in chestnut.

The second coffee table is based on Bismut’s Drum collection, with a circular top surrounded by a metal cuff and recently selected for a salon of the Élysée Palace. For the Smiley collaboration, Bismut presents the table in polished stainless steel, tinted with a gradient of brilliant color. The top features the smiling mouth and eyes in colorful glass (a yellow glass top is another option).

Also in the collection are two mirrors, each with a worn wooden shelf and small Smiley floating over a tinted polished plate. The barber’s polished bubble mirror has a small gold Smiley face attached. A phrase written in red, like a lipstick message on a mirror, says, “Take the time to smile.”
