The Natural History Museum has announced a licensing collaboration with Galt Toys, part of Jumbo Group, a manufacturer of arts and crafts, science and learning toys. The museum will work with Galt Toys to develop a new range of learning and activity kits, inspired by the natural world.
Due to launch in spring/summer 2024, the Let’s Learn range will combine illustrations alongside a breadth of natural history to engage younger children in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) learning. The series will immerse children in the worlds of science and natural history through fun and enriching activities, with the first range of kits themed around dinosaurs and tiny creatures.
Both brands have been nurturing and educating curious minds for generations. The Natural History Museum – which opened its doors in 1881 – welcomes over 150,000 students each year and Galt Toys has been inspiring learning through play for over 60 years with colorful and imaginative products that support crucial stages of childhood development.
Galt Toys worked with the museum’s vast network of scientists, experts and educators to create scientifically accurate hybrid products, integrating both brands’ expertise. The result is a visually and mentally stimulating range that showcases the natural world.
Sustainability has been prioritized throughout the development process – an area of consideration vital to both brands. Every detail of the process was considered, from utilizing recycled and recyclable materials, to the repurposing of packaging for additional activity.
“We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the team at Galt Toys to bring this exciting new range to life,” says Emma Russell, senior licensing manager, the Natural History Museum. “From our very first conversation, it was apparent we held similar values and were both equally passionate about creating opportunities for children to immerse themselves in the science and study of the natural world.”
“Partnering with a brand such as the Natural History Museum has been a brilliant opportunity for Galt Toys,” says Jacqueline Taylor-Foo, general manager, Galt Toys. “Our heritage in designing educational toys paired with the scientific expertise of the Natural History Museum team, has resulted in a wonderful new collection which is sure to deliver on its STEAM promise.
“The Let’s Learn range of educational kits launches next spring. Each kit provides a total of six projects, designed to help develop vital skills for future scientists all encased in vibrant engaging packaging which has been created from sustainably sourced, FSC-certified materials. Most of all, as with all our toys, there’s incredible play value inside each box that will encourage the consumer to come back for more.”
