Texas Christian University (TCU) Athletics and The Brandr Group (TBG) have established a group licensing agreement for the university’s student-athletes covering all the Horned Frogs’ 22 sports. This partnership enables TCU student-athletes to profit from their name, image and likeness (NIL) through a number of opportunities that will be co-branded with the school’s official trademarks and logos.

Earlier this year, License Global spoke with Ryan Moss and Riley Haynes, co-heads, licensing, The Brandr Group, to discuss “NIL” and the new ways college athletes are able to license their commercial value.

“In our new era of name, image and likeness, The Brandr Group is the perfect fit for us to form an NIL partnership to financially support our student-athletes, enhance their personal brands and increase the services we provide them, including use of our official TCU trademarks and logos,” says Jeremiah Donati, director, intercollegiate athletics, TCU. “Our fans will also play a pivotal role in this unique partnership as all purchases of co-branded product directly provide our student-athletes with a portion of the royalties.”

TBG will support the collective use of student-athletes’ NIL in licensing and marketing programs, facilitating opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes, while not limiting individual NIL rights.

“TCU has a rich tradition of excellence in athletics including last year’s exciting run to the college football national championship game and we are thrilled that they are joining our family of partner schools from the Big 12 Conference,” says Wesley Haynes, chief executive officer, TBG. “Through this group licensing agreement, Horned Frogs student-athletes now have the ability to monetize their NIL through co-branded opportunities across TCU’s portfolio. The passionate TCU fan base will also benefit with new ways to engage with their favorite players.”

Official TCU merchandise, including team jerseys with the name and number of players who have joined the respective group licensing program, are available now through the TCU Campus Store, its official athletics retailer, with more products and athletes available to come.
