Firefly Partners with David Arquette for ‘Bozo’
Licensing deal was finalized at this year’s New York Toy Fair.
Firefly Brand Management has signed with celebrities, David and Christina Arquette’s, Send In The Bozos as the exclusive North American licensing agency for Bozo the Clown.
David Arquette purchased the rights to Bozo in 2021 from Larry Harmon Pictures Corp., based on his passion for keeping the character’s legacy alive and bringing back the silliness and joy of clowns to today’s audiences.
“Bozo the Clown epitomizes the joy of laughter and that being quirky or silly is simply okay; it is what the joy of clowns is supposed to bring,” says Cynthia Modders, chief executive officer, Firefly Brand Management. “Our licensing partners are going to be excited at the many possibilities this legacy brand has to offer, which inspires kindness and fun while seeking to bring out the inner clown in everyone.”
Bozo the Clown has been on TV for more than 47 consecutive years, establishing an extensive worldwide demographic comprising audiences of all ages.
The deal, signed at this year's New York International Toy Fair, will see the two companies work together to develop a multi-faceted licensing campaign and a marketing strategy that will include, but not be limited to, media, publishing and all aspects of merchandising and consumer products for both kids and adults in all key categories in addition to pursuing a diversity of charitable tie-ins for the lovable brand.
“I have been a lifelong fan of this amazing clown,” says David Arquette. “It is an important time to shine a light on kindness and let your clown out, which means bringing joy to a world that desperately needs it. Together with Cynthia’s team, through a variety of new partnerships, we hope to bring a ton of laughter.”
Last year, Jessica Harrison was announced as the first female Bozo, Jozo Bozo. She is also the first person of color to play Bozo. An untitled Bozo the Clown documentary and other projects are the works.
