Universal Partnerships & Licensing and Illumination Entertainment have named Hybrid Apparel as domestic master apparel licensee for the Despicable Me 2 film.

Hybrid re-joins UP&L as a licensee, following its program for the original Despicable Me and will create a line of apparel for boys, juniors, men and girls and include categories such as t-shirts, fleece, 2fers, thermals, tanks and tops. Hybrid will also expand the category to toddlers. Product is expected on shelf in summer 2013.

“Hybrid Apparel was our partner on the first Despicable Me film and we have shared great success since the film opened in theaters in July 2010 through today,” says Stephanie Sperber, president, UP&L. “Our minions have gone up against some of the top licenses vying for spots on the shelves and Hybrid was a key reason for our success in the promotional space.”

“Hybrid Apparel is ecstatic to continue our partnership with Universal and Despicable Me,” says Derrick Baca, vice president of licensing, Hybrid Apparel. “This franchise has been nothing short of amazing for us and our retail partners. We are extremely excited to bring the power of the minions back to retail for Despicable Me 2.”

Despicable Me 2 will hit theaters July 3, 2013.
