Starter, MLB Relaunch the Bronx Bubble Jacket

Starter and MLB have revived the apparel brand’s Bronx Bubble jacket.  

The relaunch of the Starter x MLB Bronx Bubble jacket coincides with the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop celebrations and includes numerous colorways for three teams – the New York Yankees, the New York Mets and Brooklyn Dodgers. Collectors’ editions for the Yankees and Mets include a patch on the sleeve commemorating the 2023 Subway Series. In addition to the team’s respective primary colors, there are multiple styles for each team that appear in gold and silver.  

A launch party was held at the MLB store in New York City on July 25, with several New York sports and cultural icons on hand to celebrate the return of the retro Starter jacket.  

“When the Yankees were winning championships in the ’90s, this was the jacket, right,” says Carl Banks, former linebacker and sports analysis, New York Giants and president and founder, G-III Sports by Carl Banks. “This jacket was done for multiple teams and was popular in every city. But it was dubbed the ‘Bronx Bubble’ because this is the jacket the Yankees wore, and they would never take the field without a Starter jacket on.”
