Square Enix and Taito, owner of "Space Invaders" brand and a Square Enix subsidiary, have released several new brand themes to inspire fashion and trend products featuring the classic arcade game.

"Space Invaders" is represented for licensing by CPLG.

“'Space Invaders' is one of the leading pop-culture icons, and we wanted to give consumers fresh, innovative and relevant product," says Janet Swallow, vice president, licensing worldwide, Square Enix. "We commissioned the design agency Watermelon Creative to look at future trends and together with our licensing agency CPLG, we identified three strong design directions. All the new art is recognizably 'Space Invaders' but with a twist that we know will engage fans and broaden the appeal.”

Three new themes–Coin-Op Classics, Pixellism and Point & Shoot–are available now for licensees, with additional themes set to be released in the coming months. The new guide also includes packaging and brand guidelines to give the property a more cohesive presence at retail.

“'Space Invaders,' one of the all-time classic video games, is today an instantly recognized global brand," says Steve Manners, executive vice president, CPLG. "Taito and Square Enix have really embraced the imaginative and creative direction, which we know licensees, retailers and most importantly, consumers, will love.”
