Namco Bandai Games Europe is returning Pac-Man to his roots with plans for a new video game in Europe and Australasia.
The new video game for the classic gaming character will be based on the upcoming animated series, “Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures,” which will make its debut on Disney XD this summer.
The “Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures” video game will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and Nintendo Wii U this winter, with a separate side-scrolling version of the game planned for Nintendo DS.
The game will feature a revamped Pac-Man universe, but it will also hearken back to Pac-Man’s origins with classic elements such as Ghost encounters.
“As one of the most iconic and popular video game characters, Pac-Man has virtually become the symbol of our company,” says Olivier Comte, senior vice president, Namco Bandai Games Europe. “As a wish to renew the Pac-Man franchise and bring it to the new generation of gamers, we are proud to introduce a brand new concept in the Pac-Man universe, with ‘Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures.’”
