CBS Consumer Products has licensed its “Star Trek” property to Science Division to create an app-enabled toy inspired by the series’ Tribble characters.

Science Division Tribbles will debut along with a free Section K-7 app. The free app allows consumers to communicate with their Tribbles by assigning them different modes. Tribble toys come with three operating modes including:

  • At Ease (Tribbles trill and vibrate when you pick them up);

  • On Duty (Tribbles will determine if it is in the hands of an ally or a Klingon each time that it moves, by either cooing or screaming accordingly) and

  • Watchdog (Leave your Tribble on top of an object that you want it to guard, and if someone picks that object up, your Tribble will scream to alert you).

“I made a Tribble because I wanted a Tribble,” says Kayleigha Zawacki, co-owner/co-founder, Science Division. “Then people started telling us they wanted one, too. We decided to go for it. We are committed to creating the best possible Tribbles, made by fans for fans.”

Science Division will debut the Tribbles toy at this year’s Star Trek Las Vegas convention. The toy comes following a slew of other recently announced “Star Trek”-licensed products at this year’s Comic-Con.

Interactive Tribbles will begin beaming to consumers in early 2020.
